Nagano World Cup Wrap-up (finally)

It has been awhile since I've taken the time to update. A lot has happened since the fall world cups however I'd like to start with where I left off; the end of world cup #4.

The final day saw Jessica Gregg and Richard Shoebridge competing in the 500m and Jessica Hewitt in the 1500m(2). The day was short for Hewitt in the distance as she was disqualified in the semi-final. Gregg and Shoebridge both went on to B-finals in the 500's with Gregg taking the win for 5th overall in the distance and Shoei taking 2nd to rank 7th overall (5 skaters were in the A final for the men).

The relay finals were probably one of the biggest highlights of the weekend. On the men's side, Canada took gold, edging out Korea, China and Germany for the win in an exciting and unpredictable race. The women's final was equally exciting as the Canadian women took bronze. This race for the women proved that they can stay within reach of the Chinese and Korean teams.

Nagano became not only a great world cup experience for our team but also a great little town in Japan to visit. Our time there was well worth it and I would jump at the chance to go back!
