Snowshoeing in the Rockies

We went on a post world cup altitude training camp in the Canadian Rockies. Scott Maw put together a fantastic trip to Canmore with some great locations for snowshoeing in the mountains. The goal was to recover, focus on the aerobic side of fitness and have a great team building weekend. Unfortunately the timing didn't work out for Scott to be able to join us but we had a blast anyway.

It started out cold...

...but it was well worth it!

We were able to spend several hours over the two days snowshoeing between 1800m and 2200m. Although cold, walking around in deep snow and climbing up mountain sides keeps you warm and cozy.

We saw a moose and it's calf on the second day while following a trail on Mount Shark.

Then met up with another moose in the parking lot who was licking the salt from our cars. This moose wasn't too shy and stayed relatively close as we approached.

2 days of truly enjoying the wilderness in the Rockies.
